Beaune - Wine Capital of Burgundy

Do you want to know more about Burgundy, its history and its wines? Then Beaune is the right place for you. Wine not only dominates the townscape here, but also the history that I would like to show you.
We start in the marketplace, where trade has been going on for centuries. Maybe we're lucky and it's market right now? In any case, I will familiarize you with the culinary specialties of Burgundy.
Then we take a short walk to the Romanesque Collegiate Church of Notre-Dame, the spiritual center of the city. In addition to many art treasures, we also encounter a goat playing the harp! With a little luck, we will also see the medieval tapestry cycle for the life of Mary.
Via the cloister we go next door to the late medieval “hotel” of the great dukes of Burgundy, today a wine museum. An old watchtower reminds us of an argument in which the "Montrachet", now one of the most famous wines in the world, played a crucial role.
We pause for a moment at the former monastery of St. Etienne and I'll tell you a story about King Louis XIV and his mother. We return via the pedestrian zone to the market hall and the Hôtel-Dieu, the world-famous medieval hospital.
Are you in the mood for a glass of wine or the famous Burgundian cuisine? Or a shopping tour? Before we say goodbye to each other, I'm happy to give you some insider tips.
