2-Hour Gothenburg Tour
Gothenburg On this 2 hour walk through central Gothenburg you will learn a lot about the rich past and international setting of the second biggest town in Sweden.
You will also learn why Gothenburg is often referred to as Little London by the locals. The closeness to the sea has in many ways shaped Gothenburg. The old moat, the canals, all the bridges, the Fish Church (an indoor fish market) and the port bear evidence of Gothenburg´s vibrant history.
When visiting Gothenburg Haga is a must-visit destination. Haga is a former working class district. Now a vivid quarter where locals come for a ”fika”. Fika is Swedish for a coffee break. If you want to do it the Swedish way you must have a cinnamon bun with your coffee and in Haga there is a huge selection of good cafés. The area´s main thoroughfare Haga Nygata is a cobbled street with picturesque wooden houses.
If you feel like shopping after the coffee Haga offers antique shops and small independent boutiques. In Gothenburg with about 500 000 inhabitants you will find everything that you expect from a big city. Gothenburgers are proud to show the biggest amusement park in Scandinavia, a modern Opera house, good Michelin rated restaurants and a Garden Society (Trädgårdsföreningen) which is one of the best preserved nineteenth century parks in Europe with more than 16 000 species of plants. All of this is within walking distance. The Museum of Art has been awarded three stars in the Michelin Green Guide.
