Our city tour starts at St. Mark's Square, which with its magnificent architecture is the status symbol and the stage for the official ceremonies. Here on the facade, full of symbolism, the St. Mark's Basilica and the Doge's Palace, the history of the mighty Venetian Republic is very clearly visible. From the "most elegant salon in Europe" we reach the Castello district, which has always been inhabited by skilled craftsmen, fishermen, sailors and gondoliers. With a walk through this picturesque district, away from the crowds of tourists, we will get closer to the present Venice with its peculiarities and difficulties.
As a culmination of the tour, the Rialto Bridge will appear in front of us, a real triumphal arch over the Grand Canal! On the other bank you'll find the extremely interesting district of S.Polo and this is where the next story begins ...
