Vicenza - a city of mixture and contrast

Vicenza - a city of mixture and contrast
Vicenza - a city of mixture and contrast

The works of the famous architect Palladio and the sense of style of the Venetian Gothic - both together unfold the generous and aristocratic harmony of the cityscape.

Vicenza invites you to stroll along Corso Palladio, to stop in Piazza dei Signori with its 'Basilica', the city tower and the two Venetian columns, invites you to visit the Cathedral and the wonderful church of Santa Corona, to visit the Teatro Olimpico with its unique ambience, or last but not least to visit the Palladian Villa 'La Rotonda' with its magnificent columned porches and the circular center hall and the adjacent Villa Valmarana ai Nani with the frescoes by Giambattista and Giandomenico Tiepolo.

The wide Belvedere terrace on the square in front of the church offers a wide panoramic view of the city and its surroundings to the first peaks of the Little Dolomites and the Asiago plateau.

Last but not least, Vicenza is also a city of culinary delights, such as the famous 'Baccalà alla vicentina', the codfish soaked in cold water with long preparation, cooked with olive oil, onions and milk on a slow flame and served with polenta - one of the highlights of Italian cuisine.
