Medici's District
San Lorenzo is the district where the Lords of Florence settled down and left part of their heritage: it's a medley of history, art, tradition and gourmet heaven.
Our tour starts with the Renaissance Medici Palace, first residence of the Family with the Chapel of the Magi that should be visited. Then we move to the Saint Lawrence Basilica planed by Brunelleschi: his Old Sacristy is a must. Beside the church is Michelangelo's Laurentian Library and to his back is the Princes’ Chapel, an emblem of the Medici’s self-celebration, whose dome dominates the cityscape, with the amazing statues in the New Sacristy carried out by Michelangelo.
We'll end up in the 19th century Central Food Market, where Florentine people go shopping: an ideal place to stop and taste delicious local food and tuscan wines.
