Yes, surprisingly, that's not a problem. Although the city has 3.5 million inhabitants, the historic center is very compact and densely packed. If you're a good walker, you can cross the old town from north to south in an hour. And if you get tired, there are inexpensive taxis and a well-developed subway system at your disposal.

Madrid enjoys a very sunny climate, ranking among the sunniest cities in Europe. However, between mid-June and early September, it unfortunately gets far too hot, often exceeding 40 degrees Celsius. From September to June, however, any time of year is recommended for travel, with the very best climate in May, September, and October: little rain, warm days, and not-too-cold nights.
