Genoa: The Magnificent Maritime Republic
Genoa was one of the four sea-republics in Italy and the Genoese had colonies all over the Mediterranean. In the Renaissance time Genoa became even the richest town in Europe, and at that time Strada Nuova was built: an extraordinary street flanked by frescoed and stuccoed palazzi, which are now a World Heritage.
A guided tour in Genoa with a local tourist guide dedicated to people who are in town for the first time.
During the guided tour our guests will enjoy the most important sights of Genoa: the imposing St. Lawrence Cathedral (during services times the cathedral is closed for general visiting), the Ducal Palace, the old port area with the historical St. George Palace, the magnificent Renaissance palaces of Via Garibaldi (UNESCO World Heritage), the narrow lanes of the old town and the main square Piazza De Ferrari.
