Lucca: sober and yet elegant, every glimpse looks like a postcard!
Lucca’s historic center is entirely surrounded by an imposing ring of walls that was transformed in the 19th century into an enchanting tree-lined promenade. While walking or riding a bike, you can admire the city from up above as if in front of a treasure chest.
Lucca is the graceful result of different ages: from the traces of Roman monuments, to the exceptional flowering of Romanesque-Gothic art, the elegance of the Renaissance, and the measured neoclassical Grandeur.
After the first overall amazement, we will discover the valuable artistic heritage that Lucca offers us in the quiet of an almost intact medieval urban fabric: San Martino’s Cathedral, San Michele and San Paolino churches, San Frediano Basilica, Giacomo Puccini’s birthplace, noble residences, such as Mansi Palace (now a museum) and Pfanner Palace with its beautiful garden (formerly movies set), the Guinigi Tower with its rooftop garden and the Tower of the Hours, and the unique Amphitheater Square, where, sitting at a café, we can taste the most typical product of Lucca, the Buccellato, and have a glass of excellent Vinsanto!
On request the tour can also be done by bike (bike rental is possible on site)
