Vesterbro. A walk towards the Wild West
Start: Rådhuspladsen (Town Hall Square) Metro Station. Looking out for the traces of European archtecture from Italian Renaissance to Art Deco we stroll through the amusement zone with the Tivoli Gardens.
Beyond the Central Station we enter the former Red Light District with its prostitution and porn shops. We pass by the Meat Packing District and admire some gable paintings before taking a short break in the former Royal Shooting Range - now a peaceful park and playground.
The whole district of Vesterbro is in the proces of gentrification, we notice the well-maintained blocks with upgraded condominiums and modernized schools.
Even the churches look relaxed. Enghave Square - in the past one the places where the Labour Party congregated demonstrating their strenght - has been taken over by the new middle class inhabitants hanging out on the numerous cafes. End: Enghave Plads Metro Station.
