2-Hour Verona Tour – a city to fall in love with
In Verona, one of the most beautiful cities in Italy, we encounter three epochs which, together with the location of the city, determine the harmony of the cityscape: the epochs of Rome, the rule of the Scaliger and those of Venice.
The 'Arena', the glorious scene of opera performances under the starry night sky during the summer months, represents the Roman Verona - but the two city gates are also important testimonials of Rome.
The presence of the Scaliger on the picturesque Piazza delle Erbe testifies to the cityscape - and no less the Castelvecchio and its monumental bridge, the 'Ponte Scaligero'.
Verona owes not only the grandeur and exclusivity of the 'Piazza dei Signori' to the rule of Venice, but also the unique overall picture of the center as such.
The 'Ponte Pietra', the oldest bridge in the city, from which a unique panoramic view is offered, represents all three main epochs together: two of the five arches are still Roman, one dates from the Scaliger period, the other two from the Venetian period.
Thanks to Shakespeare's immortal poetry, Verona is also the city of Romeo and Juliet; the courtyard of 'Juliet's House' and the famous balcony in Via Cappello are an irresistible magnet for a crowd of young people.
In addition to the many sights, Verona also has a lot to offer gourmets: their wines are a must to accompany the traditional cuisine, and the (almond) kisses from Romeo and Juliet round off the city tour with a sweet end.
