Villa Rotonda

Villa Rotonda, designed by Andrea Palladio in 1566, is one of the most famous and important villas of the Italian Renaissance; it has become a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is located near Vicenza and it is famous for its perfect symmetry and harmonious architecture, with a central floor plan in the shape of a Greek cross. The villa is surrounded by a large park and has porticos on all sides leading to a large terrace. A tour of the villa offers a unique insight into Palladio's mastery, which had a lasting influence on modern architecture. During the visit, tourists can view the interiors with frescoes and stucco work and enjoy the panoramic view from the villa. Villa Rotonda is also an emblematic example of the integration of architecture and natural landscape.   IMPORTANT: The Villa Rotonda is usually open only on FRIDAY, SATURDAY and SUNDAY.
