Treasures Of Madrid - More Than A Millennium Of History

The more than two-hour walk through Madrid's city center takes you back to the Moorish beginnings of the Spanish capital, its history in the late Middle Ages and the glorious era of the Habsburgs.

At the same time, however, it also sheds light on current events and developments that are affecting people in Spain: corruption, youth unemployment, separatism - but also local turmoil such as air pollution, gentrification, housing crisis and much more.

We will show you tourist classics such as Plaza Mayor and Palacio Real as well as hidden side streets. Burnings of heretics, legends of virgins and royal weddings appear right in front of you. Crooks and anarchists meet prominent figures in the history of Madrid and Spain: Philip II, Diego Velázquez, Miguel de Cervantes, Franco. And of course: everything about gastronomic specialties, Madrid´s ever changing culinary scene and its cultural life.

A varied program for anyone who wants to get a first insight into the city's history and present.
